Kawau Island!!

Walt: summarize a week long experience into a recount.
Home, sweet home. 4 tiring days doing exercise, exciting activities, and many more lasting memories. Yet I was still so glad that I made it back home. It was such a chaotic but fun experience at Kawau island, I almost passed out. So much FUN.


Me and the rest of the  year 6 students from Pt england school woke up at 5 in the morning to get ready to go to our camp.Tired and exhausted, we made our way to school. We packed our bags into the bus. We sat up quietly and waited for the teachers to dismiss us to the bus.  Seated in the bus we waved good-bye to our beloved ones. We were yelling and excited to go to Camp bentzon, singing songs loudly, enjoying the ride.


When we reached sandspit wharf. We cheered loud, waiting for the door to open. We sat down quietly waiting for the other passengers to go on the ferry, finally the were passengers aboard. A few minutes late, the year 6 students were getting ready to do our traditional haka. The haka was beautiful, and we were proud to show our respect to the people that lived at Camp Bentzon. Our class mates were proud and happy.


Once we got there, we got ready to walk up the KILLER HILL. That mountain was a KILLER to your LEGS, all we had to do was to put a rock up top of of other rocks. Once we reached the top we had a little bit to eat, then we had to walk to the other side of the mountain. We did this because the teachers were getting our cabins ready. I wasn't thinking about walk actually I didn't even care about it, all I was thinking about was our CABINS. Once we finished the walk I ran to our cabins and just layed in bed, it was so relaxing!


Four tiring days have passed and it was time to go home. Crying our eyes out because we didn't want to leave. As we packed our bags in the ferry and our leftover food, we said our good-byes and continued with going home. We yelled good-bye and screamed we miss you, tired from running and yelling. Some of us couldn't even wait to see their parents again.

What I thought about camp was, it was fun, exhausting and tiring. Camp Bentazon was fun and amazing, we miss every single part that we did at Kawau Island.  I thought that Kawau Island was the best Island I have ever been to, actually it's the only island I have been to.

We were learning to write about our experience at Kawau Island. We had to write and learn about we can remember what we thought about our experience. Hope you enjoyed this, leave a comment or feedback.

The Tui

Today we are learning about birds and how they adapt to thrive through there lives. I chose the bird that represents the finest birds in New Zealand, I chose the tui. I had to research about the tui, find new facts, what was cool about it. We are doing this because for camp we are going to Kawau Island, this was to show us what we now about the birds.

Problem Solving!!!

To solve these problem's I had to find a fraction of a number. I learnt how to read a maths problem and then convert it into a math equation, I did this with my friend Revival, Yvonne and Venetia. Two of us in a group did a card each. We had to Participate and work together to find out what the answer is. At the end of the day our results were good and we all agreed to the answer. Ewwww! Did they actually eat pond scum and frog eggs. Our teacher was crazy letting us eat that, was it fake or real. The smell was terrible, and the way it looked. They thought it was going to be easy like eating a pie, but they were wrong.

Pixel Art!!

Do you like my minion? Today I wanted to make a minion out of pixels on 8 bit art. I then searched up "pixel art minion", I found a perfect picture that I could copy. I was doing so well, and only did a couple of errors. This was my first time doing a minion and do wish I have spare time to do another different one. Once I was finished I then took a screenshot and showed my parents. My brother thought he could do a better one, I just walked off. This is the screenshot of my beautiful minion. New interesting Vocabulary!!

Description:
Today learnt four new words and what they mean. I was looking at dictionary, and thought I could do my own small one. The four words I learnt was Shrivel, Generic, Lieutenant and Subordinate, I got these words from the dictionary I was looking at. I also asked for some help to search what they mean, and put them in a sentence. I put a lot of time and effort to make it look like a real definition dictionary, so if you don't know what Shrivel, Generic, Lieutenant or Subordinate mean read the presentation, I made. How Maui slowed the sun.

Long Ago the sun, began to move quickly across the sky. The days became too short to do all the things that had to be done. People could not do much about it, but Maui thought he would try.

He gathered his four brothers and said to them, "Let us catch the Sun and make it move more slowly. "It will burn us up. It is impossible" they said, "but I have a plan" said Maui. "If we make strong ropes of flax we can snare the sun where it rises." The brothers still were not very happy, but they helped Maui to cut the flax. They plated flatten ones, squared ones and round ropes. Maui chanted a karakia as they worked to give the ropes the power, they would need the power to hold the mighty sun.

At last the ropes were ready, they set off to where the sun rose. They only traveled during the long nights as they did not want it to be known they were coming. It was many miles to the home of the sun. As the bush gave way to shriveled scrub and the ground grew warm underfoot, they knew that they were nearly there. 

Soon they reached the great pit from which the sun would rise. "Help me build a wall of earth to hide behind", said Maui. "Hurry my brothers. for the sun is beginning to awake." The five quickly piled up enough clay to conceal themselves. They crouched behind it as the ground began to tremble and shake. "Do not throw your ropes until I say so", hissed Maui, "and when we have caught it, do not let go!

First the fiery flames reared above the wall, but Maui kept as still as a statue. Then came the great whirling eyes of the sun and Maui muttered 'here' (a charm), but when the white hot teeth came into view, Maui sprang to his feet. "Now my brothers!" The magic ropes snaked through the air. They tied the sun's fiery hair and looped around its huge body. Maui leapt on to the wall, raised the magic jawbone of his grandfather and smashed it down with all his strength on to the head of the sun. 

The sun shrieked in agony but Maui kept raining blows on its flaming face. " You will kill Tama-nui-te-Ra!", screamed the sun. "No", said Maui, "I will not kill you, but I will make you move more slowly!" When the sun was weak and tired, Maui told his brothers to loosen the ropes. The sun drifted slowly into the air and began to creep across the sky. Now that is why the days are long enough, and if you look hard, you can sometimes see the magic ropes that bind the sun to earth.

Today I did a retail about how Maui slowed the sun. I thought this story was bold and astonishing to read about. I loved this story and I really thought I should post this on to my blog, it was super fun to write it. I really put my interesting words in there, so I didn't have to use boring words like then and after. It was super amazing. If I would to rate this book it would be a 10/10.

Rona and the moon.

Rona was a beautiful young lady but sometimes she could be mean and bossy to her husband and son. One day she sent her husband with her son to catch some fish for supper, they then left early in the morning. Rona's husband and son wouldn't come back until the next night.

Rona then fell asleep, but she slept in to long. Her husband was coming soon, she could hear him singing a mile a way. She then set the fire and hangi out. She then looked inside the gourd to see if there was any water left, there was none not even a drop. Rona had enough time to run to the pond and get some more water. She was running until the moon hid behind a cloud, Rona then tripped. 

She then cursed to the moon. Rona called him an old cooked head. The moon did not like that and then turned mad. He came down from the sky and grabbed Rona by the waist. Rona held on tight to the ngaio tree but the moon was to strong and pulled the tree out of its root. When her husband and son returned he could not see her there, until he could see a woman with a nagio tree in her hand up in the moon. 

On this day Rona can be seen on the full moon. When people get angry, they look to the moon and say "Remember Rona's mistake."

Today I read Rona and the moon. It was a cool story, and experienced me not to get angry that much. I love this story and then thought I should do a retail, maybe this story could tell you not to get angry that much and relax. When you do get angry look at the moon and remember Rona's mistake. If I would rate this book about Rona and the moon I would give it a 10/10.

Highlight of the term!!

The final day of term 3 at Pt england school. My highlight of the term was being in the production. My friends and I participated to be one the school senior dancer, I experience a lot of more dances to come. I love the part when we danced to the song watch me whip. At the end of the day, the school ends and holidays begin. Have a GREAT holiday!!

Egg Races!!!

WALT: think about my purpose and reader by planning my recount.

Cracks, Screaming, Racing!!We all did that with an egg on a spoon, lots of children thought they were going past with no sweat. They thought wrong, it was a super messy.

The whole of class six literacy class all started to walk to the senior playground. We either decided with our partner to run with our egg first or second. Our little eggs name was Venosa Goodwin,We then get handed our spoons, we carefully put the egg on the spoon. Already kids we cracking their eggs, it was already messy. Groups of us lined up behind the line waiting eagerly to pass the line, it was super crazy. We all panicked for our egg.

We then hear a voice beside us saying “go,” we all walked slowly but trying to beat one another. I climbed over the platform with no sweat, and then looked at the other activities that I needed to pass. Lots already lost their egg, and couldn’t go on. I finally passed the line and gave the spoon to my friend, some children from the other end were really disappointed because their partner didn’t come back with a perfect egg. Once everyone finished with their egg, I walk over to Venetia, the egg was perfect, no crack at all. We were amazed.

The egg race was the coolest activity that we had done so far. We all loved our egg and cared for it, some or our kids didn’t want to give our egg back. I thought that the egg was a good idea to car for one another, because some of us were careful of the egg and some just didn’t care about the egg at all.




Task: Today we learnt how to write purpose. To write our paragraph we did egg racing, we learnt how to write about our topic and don't write about something else.

Problem Solving!!!

WALT: Multiply and Divide decimals.


Task of description:
Our task was to understand what decimals are. Also how to use them in division and dividing, I learnt this to get a good idea of what a decimal is and what they are for. One of these answer were really hard to answer, so what I did was to ask our teacher for some help. My friend and I put this into proper math answers so our reader can understand. Market Day!!

WALT: Write an interesting recount

Last week on Friday we had our team 4 market day for our topic trade and enterprise. Team 4 bought products, sold products, advertised products and did much more. We got the option to talk to our partner to buy first or sell second. Read on to find out more.


On our market day we had six groups buying and selling products. Our big groups are Musical Instruments, Homeware, Custom Stationery, Kitchen, Jewelry and Toys. Smaller groups were made so they can decide what products they want to make to sell. My group had a discussion and decided that we wanted to make maths book covers.


The whole of team four were split up into the year six block, the year five block and the porch. The groups that were in the year five block were Jewelry and Toys. In the year six block was Custom stationery, some of Jewellery and Musical Instruments. On the porch was Kitchen. Our group decided to hang our poster above us so our customers can see our amazing product. It was really crazy, because kids were wandering around  and buying products that they didn’t even need.


Kids got the option to talk to their partner if they wanted to buy or sell first. I got the opportunity to buy first, so what I bought was a candle for my mum, food, loom bands and much more. My partener and I had a turn to bowl down six cans with a ball, it was super fun buying. The products that I bought were very useful to use, and I was very impressed of what I could do with it. When we had to swap I didn’t want to go back I was stuck having way too much fun with my products.


Selling products was easy for a while. We sold up to 9 book covers and made 22pt and 50pcs, we also made 5 generic book covers which made 12pt and 50pcs. Our group was really impressed of how much we made, and we are really grateful that Mr Goodwin was there to help us. I was in custom stationery with my friends, we got the option to chose what math book we want. What I choose was a cool graffiti math book cover, that my friend Venetia made. It was super cool and fitted right onto my maths book.

The market day was like I was in the night market but in day time, I thought the market was going to be lame but it was actually really awesome. The most amazing part about the market day was that we got heaps of orders, my friends and I were really HAPPY!!

Task of description:
I have learnt how to make sense, and use proper English. I also had help with my friends, I learnt how to use language to make my recount more interesting. I made my story my interesting my using more new words. Please leave a comment or feedback.

Description of task:
Today we learnt how to use Adjectives, Nouns, Verbs and adverbs, but there was a change of this we had to put them into order to make sense. We learnt how to use a range of language and use our inferencing skills, we did some heaps or learning today. Our whole class learnt this with a partner for help. This task was an good idea to put on our thinking caps for using top vocabulary for our poems, writing, reading answers and talk to the people we know or giving directions. Trade-Fair!!!

WALT:  Paints a picture in our readers mind

This term our topic is trade and enterprise. We are learning how to trade products and becoming entrepreneurs. Buying and Selling product is really easy at our school, we learn how to trade with our friends and enterprise with the people who we may or may not know. If you are really interested in this learning environment read on to find out more about this.

A trade fair is when you have a group presentation that your group has been working on through the past few weeks, making your product look really good to sell. At a trade fair you look for items that you will be interested in, then soon to ask question about the product. At a trade fair you obviously trade things like products and make an advertisement to pull your buyer into your work. Trade fairs can make you have heaps of cash BUT sometimes your material costs to much to pay.


We had lots and lots of different groups like Home ware, Toys, Kitchen, Jewels and accessory, Custom Stationery and Music. I am in Custom Stationery, every single business teamed up into three or four. I participated with Venetia and Seini, We all had a accomplished ideas. There were so many ideas that people had to chose from and people picked amazing items to build their product. We had heaps of ideas and only choose 1-3 items to make, we made custom maths book covers. My friends and I decorated our maths book cover for some ideas of what we need to improve on and finally finished our product.


The trade-fair for me was pretty cool but some things were a little bit too much. What I loved and ordered was loom bands, food, balloon filled with flour and a beautiful candle. They were all pretty and they were really useful stuff that I will use. When I went back to my group I saw that Seini was doing really good with ordering from children, Seini was really good at selling stuff and hustling people to buy our stuff it was so good for our Custom Stationery group.

I was so excited that we had our trade-fair and still excited for our market day in Week 8. I am excited because I brought some stuff and I can not wait till I use them, I thought that the trade-fair was a good idea because it was cool for the year fives and sixes to get a good idea for our real job courier. Doing my own business with my group was very fun and we made heaps of orders.


Task of Description:

Today we learnt how to paint a picture in our readers mind, I also learnt how to use new vocab in our learning every day. The trade fair was a good example of our learning for our new Walt, it was pretty easy doing my work because it was good opportunity to experience. IT WAS FUN!!!

Maths Teacher Lesson!!!

This week we had a lesson with our Teacher Mr S, we learnt two strategies today. We learnt how to work with decimals, where if the equation is multiply use division and you can still use the same thing around. Also we do that same thing to to addition and subtraction. The second equation we were learning was multiply decimals, where you can multiply step by step. Watch the video to see some more examples.

Maths Teacher lesson!!

WALT Subtract decimals

Description of task:
Today with our teacher we learnt how to subtract decimal in two ways. It was tricky at first, but easy when we got it. Our teacher gave us challenging question, we were think so hard. Mr S then he told us change the subtraction into an addition. We then add it to the closer unit and then add the rest, it was super easy when we got it.

WALT: multiply and divide whole numbers.

Description of learning:
Today our task was to finish off this task to show that we understand these problem that were given to us. The first one was my one and I did multiplication and while my friend revival did the second which was division. For an example: 92 x 6=?, so first we break it up into bits 90 x 6=540 and then 2 x 6-12. At the end we finally we just have to add those two numbers that we just made. The answer would be 552, please leave a comment or feedback of what I need to work on.

Chocolate Critic

WALT: Use language that paints a picture in the mind of our reader

Whittakers L&P chocolate, two of my favourite things. Yet when combined it is a tragedy. 

Whittakers L&P chocolate contains smooth white chocolate with unusual looking L&P popping candy inside. It’s part of the Whittakers king size range and costs about $4.30 at countdown.

When I first took a bite into the white chocolate my stomach turned in another direction, I thought my stomach was truly going to die. The chocolate melted in my mouth so quick that I didn’t have time to spit it out, it was a disaster. The smell of the chocolate reminded me of my dad’s sprite burps, and the popping candy did unusual stuff to my brain, I think I started to panic. 

The best way to improve on this chocolate is to change the yucky white chocolate to the nice yummy milk chocolate, and I think they should confiscate the yucky popping candy. You should change it to m&m’s that will be the best combination ever.

I don’t think I could recommend this product to anyone because I think that nobody would like popping candy with chocolate in there mouth, but when I did look at the reviews I saw that it was good quality. So there are some people that like this chocolate and some other people who don’t like this chocolate there are two people with different taste buds.

Description of learning:
We tasted the chocolate without knowing the flavour. We did that because when we know what we are eating it changes the way our brain thinks about it, it was really cool. When we did this we had to fill out this taste observation sheet of what we saw, felt, tasted and smelt. We had to write one or two words that describes the chocolate, and then recraft into a fully detailed sentence. When we were writing we tried to paint a picture in our readers mind, because we wanted our reader to have good idea of what we are taking about. If I would rate this chocolate I would give it a 1 out of 5.

Applying for a Job!!!

WALT: Applying for a job to a high standard

Applying for bank teller:
I would like to be a bank teller because I am trustworthy and a responsible child. I love participating people. I can also do my job within one hundred percent.

I chose this job because I love counting my mother’s money. I like to keep everything organised and straight so nothing can go missing. I listen to everyone and follow instructions carefully so I don’t get anything wrong, I love to participate in things. You can simply trust me to bank money with you at lunchtimes. If I do get this job I will bring my full responsibility in this and can focus on my particular learning needs  for this job.

Rosalina is an outgoing and a loveable person to work with, she is really good at counting my money and I think she would be good at this job. She does everything well with one hundred percent and has a perfect smile while doing it.

My little one is great for this spot and loves helping other people with stuff. Rosalina has a fun personality and a focused attitude when it comes to serious things. She loves to participate with others and have fun.

Kauri Trees!!!

WALT: Out ourselves into the text
The task was to complete a advertising poster that explains on we should sell or buy Kauri Furniture. My Group and I completed a perfect discussion doc about timber and how it helps us. We had to imagine of what a advertisement for us would look like and also our furniture would look like. Our Book also helped us with our learning.

Our task today was to learn about adding and subtracting decimals. Revival and I was given this task to work on and we have now finished within just in minutes, we learnt this to show our proper understanding of what decimals are. One of the equation was super hard but we got through it so far. To solve this answer we added or subtracted the hundredths, tenths and then the ones. Conjunctions!!

WALT: We are learning about conjunctions and how to use them in sentences.

Task One  Highlight the conjunctions RED in the sentences below
We went home and went straight to bed.
They are rich but they aren’t happy.
We went home because we were tired.
We went home early, so we missed the end of the concert.

Today we learnt about conjunctions, We did this to show our understanding of what conjunctions are. I did two task and followed the instructions. I learnt what are conjunctions and some new ones and also how to put them in sentences.

Problem Solving!!

WALT: Add and Subtract decimals


This week our task was to do this presentation to show our understanding of what decimals are. For an example: 0.22 + 0.34= So first we do 22 + 34=56. So that was pretty easy you do the same with one columns. So the answer is 56, please leave a comment or feedback of what I need to improve on.


Bean bags for hire 3pt whole day!!

WALT: Pursued the reader to agree with our message

Bean bags are super soft  and comfortable for YOUR bum to sit on. Feeling super tired from playing you can hire the bean bag and feeling divine when doing your work, you will be the coolest kid around (maybe).


Any time in class the bean bags are available for hire any time. Instead of sitting on the hard cold dirty floor or on a brown boring ugly chair, you will be able to sit on a bean bag for 3pt making your bottom placid and comfortable.


The bean bags are filled with soft small beans and covered in a smooth soft rubber skin. They can be sculpted into the shape of your choice. You can do almost anything with the bean bag like sitting on the bean bag or leaning on it against the wall.



The bean bags come in two different bright colours. An ocean blue bean bag, and an grassy green looking bean bag. It’s absolutely your choice of which one to sit on. There both prodigious to sit on.


You pay once at any time and get it for the rest of the day it is really truly stunning to sit on, it’s like you're in a another universe with stars around you. The cost is 3pt, ( Whoa pricey much).

Remember for 3pt you can sit on a beanbag during class all day, that's right I just said all day just for 3pt. So save up to hire a bean bag, so I think to buy this bean bag. It will be a YAY for your bottom.

This task was to re-craft of what our teacher wrote. We had to write this to pursue a reader and make YOU interested in our learning  .We had to put in juicy words to make out reader interested, so what I did to do that was use thesaurus this helps me find more juicy words for my writing and also better words like amazing. You should try thesaurus and maybe you will be prolific and maybe even better than me.
