Maths Teacher lesson Week 5

Today our task was to solve maths problems with our teacher Mr Somerville. Today we learnt to solve division an easier way, this is what our group did. I will be describing what we did right now. First we needed to change the division into a multiplication, Then times the number that is closer to the biggest number. If the number is less add how much you need to get to the number. Times the number that is added up to the question, then you have the answer well not quite the you add the two numbers and that is how you solve the problem, If you don't get it JUST watch the movie hope you enjoy it.

Winter is coming!!

WALT: Write a news style report.

*******************************************************************************
What a cold winter this year!

Winter is almost here, really cold morning and freezing nights. The coldest season of them all. Most children at pt england school say that on rainy, stormy days school should be closed, other children don’t like the idea of that.

Autumn is coming to an end and winter is starting up again. Presayus is a student at Pt England school and freezing kid when she is out learning and playing. Only a few more days until winter finally starts and are already kids and adults are shivering cold at school.

Winter is a pretty cold session. There could be a storm or hail, so it might be safe if school close down for the day and the kids should stay home. Sometimes when it is really bad the road could be slippery so stay out of accidents on the roads.

We have students at Pt England such as Olivia saying “School should be closed on raining days.”  On the other hand Lani saying “ We should MAN up and walk to school like the other kids.” So there are two kinds that we can choose on raining. Which one are you going to choose.
*******************************************************************************

Today our task was to write a new style report about the new cold season. We have two choices to choose from and my question is what is your choice going to school when its raining or school should close when its raining. These are my following paragraph hope you enjoy.

Christchurch Earthquake.

WALT: Find proof of the authors message.

**************************************************************************
Liam is a 15 year old boy. Liam lives in New Zealand and enjoys trying new things. Liam loves to play computer games, searching new things on the net and Finding new codes to control internet problems.

What are your thoughts about the earthquake in Christchurch 2011?
Once I heard about the earthquake and started praying for them hoping that they are okay. My school started a fundraiser and we raised a lot. I even started one and gave it to the people who don’t have water, food or shelter.

What would it mean to you if an earthquake happened in your city?
It would mean a lot, because I might be at school and my parents at work. If it did happen I would freak don’t know what to do, looking for my parent, sisters and brothers. I would be devastated and worried.

What would you react to an earthquake?
I would drop cover and hold, which means I would have to drop, cover myself and then hold myself sill. If I got nothing around me I would stay in a middle of a field and wait until it stops. If nothing works I would be scared.
*******************************************************************************
Task: Our task was to learn how to write news reports about a different variety of subjects. We had to read the story about the Christchurch earthquake. Then we had to interview the main characters that we were reading about in our school journal. Here is my results of what happened.

Three pigs attacked by a WOLF!

Walt: Write a news style report.

Here are some breaking news Two pigs died and attacked by a wolf. Luckily the wolf is no longer with us and causing more trouble. Just keep aware of any other wolves out there.

Three pigs were recently attacked by a brutal wolf after being sent away from their mother. The wolf was identified to be Matt Goodwin. The sad news is the two of the pigs didn't survive the attack, but The third pig was smart enough to kill the wolf with hot boiling water.

The third pig managed to survive the attack. When it was time for the wolf to come to the third pig’s house. The wolf got an idea to climb up on the chimney, but the pig was smart enough to boil hot water. When the wolf climbed down the chimney he slipped and fell in the HOT boiling water.

Can I ask you some questions mama pig?
Do you regret kicking your pigs out?
Yes, I wish that I could go back in time and keep them with me, but at the same time I need to let them have their freedom and fun.

How do you feel about your loss of your two sons?
Well, I was pretty devastated at first I didn't know if they were lying or not. I checked two of my son’s house and it was true. I was crying my heart out.

Would you ever let your children leave you again?
Yes, Why? Well I know that some wolves are out there, but I do need them to have a little taste of the outside world.

When your sons left you were you upset? Yes, I was really scared cause I had a thought that the wolf was going to get them. So I tried to find them and tell them to look after each other.

What would you feel if the wolf turned up to your door?
Well, I would feel really scared I will turn off the light so the wolf wouldn't see me and then I will run out the door.

Thank you for your time Mrs Mama pig
