Immersion Assembly - Guardians of the Galaxy!

WALT -  I will identify the different places speeches/talks are given and how they are designed for delivery

Protecting and helping the earth improve in a better kind. Finding out new and interesting information of what it’s like above us way high, What’s beyond the clouds we see almost every day? Exactly why Pt England school is studying about it. Each team has a different learning intention, we all shared what we’re learning towards at Monday's Immersion Assembly.
Guardians of the galaxy it is!

What am I looking forward to this terms topic?
Towards this terms topic I’m looking forward on answering the questions I have in mind, The different features in space. Exactly why and how is the oxygen in space different to planet earth? Well hopefully at the end of term 3 I have the answer to that.

Most Informative performance.
From my perspective Team 4 had a really informative short clip that was presented, It had a lot of detail of what they're learning about this term. Since earth is slowly dying, What’s another planet to keep us humans still standing? Well 3 teachers of Team 4 attempted to travel to 3 different planets to see if it was possible to breathe and live on different land. Sadly all 3 attempts failed. So, basically their learning about survival on different planets, if we could adapt to it or not and the big Mars mission!

Most Entertaining performance.
Of course, Team 5 was the most entertaining performance of the day. The reason why because it had a lot more enthusiasm as they were the only team that did a Live performance. 4 teachers of team 5 holding musical instruments surrounding the lead singer Mrs Judd. They also had a lot of information in their song that they presented but some parts of the song I couldn’t hear due to Mrs Judd singing fast.

Language Features!

WALT -  develop our knowledge on figurative language and understand their use within a text

Over the past two weeks we've been learning about Language Features! How it could be connected to a poem and so much more, We learnt the definitions of words, language features and poems. What's the story behind the poems? It all links up to the words the author uses in the poem. We had three texts to finish of this weeks learning intention. We developed our knowledge on figurative language and understand their use within the three texts we were give.

2017 Year 8 Camp.

2017 Year 8 Camp!
On the 24th - 26th of May we have our annual Year 8 Camp! We had the opportunity to camp at the Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp grounds. Throughout the year 8 students, We were all set up into different teams. Thames, Coromandel, Kauri and Kauaeranga. Lucky me I was in Kauri! In Kauri there was 6 in each team, Kauri A & B. Each team had almost the same amount in their own team.

Out of all of the activities I got to say I enjoyed Go Karts and Paintball. Paintball was the first activity we had for our second day of camp, It was fun. We all had energy and were pumped to run around and shoot each other. It felt like betrayal shooting my own teammates but I had fun, Heaps of fun. Until out of nowhere, I got shot in the neck by Christopher! I did have a little sook but I just wanted my revenge. Sadly I didn’t get it but I will one day, hopefully. Other than that, I had the best time with my teammates alongside of me.

Go Karts, Our second to last activity to accomplish on our task. We all had the chance to go around the track once, To get the hang of things and how it feels to ride one. Once our whole team had one turn we then had the choice to either have a timer or have two more times going around doing whatever we want. I chose a timer, Just so I could beat the previous time record. All I had to beat was 39 seconds, It was pretty easy as it was so fast. I was so excited when I making going at a good time, Zooming past cone by cone. Going around the bend then boom! 38 seconds on the clock, Even I was surprised cause I thought I was as slow as a snail.

After a couple of days as we got back home, I started to miss Kauaeranga. The beautiful view and the activities, It was a once and life time thing. It was fun, Getting to know people I don't usually hang out with at school. We worked as a team and we humbled ourselves even more, I reckon we even got a little closer than before camp.

Sweet as poetry.

Here is my reading presentation, Our learning intention was on poems. We learnt new words, different ways we could present poems/speeches and we had to understand what each poem was about. Our group had to read four poems, So far my favorite is Embarrassment Expert cause I relate to it so much. I've had a lot of embarrassing moments in my life and so I could relate to the poem.
