Caterpillars

We have been reading about Monarch caterpillars. In this story a boy and his koro watch as a two Monarch caterpillar eggs transform into butterflies. The author wrote this story all about life cycles. The life cycle of a butterfly and koro his son died that was very sad. The life cycle starts as an egg, the egg hatches into a caterpillar it will eat and eat until it's really big and fat, then it goes into a chrysalis and turns into a butterfly.

The life cycle of monarch butterfly.




This is about the life cycle of a Monarch butterfly.  The life cycle starts as a tiny egg changes through different stages, turns inside out and becomes a butterfly.



The egg
The life-cycle begins with the female butterfly attaching the egg near to a milk weed plant. She lays it there so when it turn into a caterpillar it has something to eat.



Caterpillar
When the egg hatches it would eat the milk weed plant. As the caterpillar eats it grows bigger and bigger then the caterpillar will turn inside out and turn into a chrysalis.



The Chrysalis
Pupa is a another word for Chrysalis. The Chrysalis will Stay over the winter while it is growing it’s wings. the wing will go green then orange and black. When winter is over it will open and spread it’s wings it will take time to fly.





Monarch butterfly

The monarch butterfly will come out of it’s chrysalis and open it’s wing and fly but it will need a little warm up before take off. The butterfly will find a partner and the lady butterfly will lay the eggs. She will go off and eat or drink and might lay more eggs.
